About Steppin’ Out

Over the last 30 years, Jodie Morrison and the team at Steppin’ Out have been the creative force that has made the custom shoes for the majority of Australia’s stage and big screen productions. The myriad of shows to which they have added their magical touch includes Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical, Lion King ,Wicked The Musical ,Cats, Miss Saigon and Phantom of the Opera. In addition, Hollywood has come calling for their custom shoes for such classics as Australia, King Kong, Moulin Rouge, The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, Superman Returns, The Matrix ,The Piano and Crocodile Dundee.

Established in 1979 by Jodie Morrison, Steppin’ Out continues today to be an industry leader in bespoke shoes. Based in Sydney, Australia, Jodie was educated both on the factory floor and the TAFE School of Footwear, where she won the Rural Bank Training Award. After four years she was awarded a Rotary Scholarship which allowed her to continue her studies at the prestigious Parson’s School of Design in New York.

Not only practical and durable, Steppin’ Out original shoes have also been considered works of art. They’ve been represented in exhibitions at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, the National Museum of Canberra and Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Steppin’ Out strives to make footwear of the highest quality, not just for the arts, but also for individuals. Their aim is to maintain their high standard of excellence and originality by ensuring a complete balance between form and function that perfectly matches each customer’s needs. For three decades it’s been Steppin’ Out’s goal to find their customers ‘heart’s desire’ in footwear.
